In March, we discussed spiders. Now it’s frogs. Halloween ushers in November, and in the US the season is all about monsters, ghosts, and heavy rain (I actually mean ice).
So frogs have become a thing.
An impressive number of frog costumes are being shipped to America. Somewhere in Zhejiang province, in a city by the South China Sea, people are packing these frogs into boxes. It must take them quite some time. According to a Chinese website, more than five hundred were sold in October alone. On the American side, they sold even twice as many. Altogether that’s around fifteen hundred Inflatable-Costume-Adult-Frog-Full-Body-Deluxe-Funny-Air-Blow-Up-Costume-for-Men-Women-Halloween-s, all traveling past scanners, hubs and customs checkpoints on their way to American streets.
Once they arrive, the frogs are unpacked and unfolded. They might be hung for a while to lose their creases. Then evening falls. Someone steps into a frog suit and heads out. To take a stand.
Millions? Billions? Trillions? Since Johannes Bellinkx and Daan Brinkmann sent their package to the Flynn Center in Vermont, USA, countless parcels have been sent. Johannes and Daan had shipped a package containing a camera that recorded the journey. The outcome, The Parcel Project, can be seen in the gallery of the Flynn Center.
