People send everything by post. Everything. Including exotic spiders, via sites like Craigslist. Pay six euros for a spiderling, and it will be sent to you. Plastic box around it, food included, air holes, stamp on it.
When being mailed, the spider embarks on a grand journey. A remarkable sequence of tumbling, bumping, being slightly crushed, standing in the cold, something with a conveyor belt, pressure changes, beeping, falling from the vehicle, and waiting at a door.
At least, that’s the assumption. Is that really how it works? With the Parcel Project Johannes Bellinkx and Daan Brinkmann would like to look at the network of enterprises pushing our packages across the globe. They gave eyes and ears to a package, and that package will be sent to the US this month.
Upon arrival, it will report back to us. In September, you will see and hear what the package has captured in images and sound. To see it, you’ll have to follow it to its destination: the Flynn Centre in Burlington, Vermont, USA.
