KAN april

How do we learn?

Apparently, people learn in their sleep. When the day is done, the brain sifts through everything that was taken in. It’s only the relevant bits that get stored. At least, that’s what I remember from a webinar. The webinar was incredibly dull.

Anything your nighttime brain deems irrelevant gets tossed. How exactly that works, I don’t know—or don’t remember. I forgot that part too, because, again, the webinar was overwhelmingly dull.

It seems we forget almost everything we’ve learned unless we review it regularly. The details escape me, but I recall the teacher at the webinar explaining that each repetition helps the information stick a little longer. They definitely shared the best way to do this, using a graph. I just can’t remember any of their tips.

On April 15–17 and 23–24, KAN (Kunst Akademie Nazareth) opens its doors. KAN is a joint exploration of what an art academy could be. KAN is a collaboration between the residents of Maastricht’s Nazareth neighborhood, SoAP, and MOHA.
