Sometimes, in a city far away, a pack of stray dogs dashes past you. These dogs live in a parallel society. They share the streets and parks with humans, but not their time. We are elements in the scenery of their existence. They rarely look up at us, keep a different rhythm, and have different priorities.
In the life of a dog, there must be digging. Digging, sniffing, and trotting. The dogs trot from sniffing spot to sniffing spot, dig in a trash can, or lay their nest of puppies there.
Johannes Bellinkx and Sjoerd Leijten slightly turn us, human visitors of Copenhagen, into dogs with Living Matters. They offer us a parallel rhythm: make us scurry along a path, dig with our eyes, prick up our ears, and sniff the air around us.
Living Matters is a sound walk through the Refshaleøen area in Copenhagen, which you can follow during the Metropolis festival and beyond (!). The walk is available for download from 8 August; you can listen to it on your own phone. On 16 August, Living Matters will be festively launched. Johannes will talk about the work and a walk will take place. The same will happen on 22 August, led by Sjoerd. Bring a charged phone and earphones or headphones.
