peat, that is: layers of plant and water. lasagna. soft and springy. a well-rotted layer of plant materials. a crust of condensed marsh, pressed together for centuries. And then, in the blink of an eye, humans stabbed, stoked, and smoked the peat away.
TAAT reflects on peat from May 7 to 12 in Germany this month. These May reflections are part of Irrlichter. Under this title, TAAT, together with journalist Swantje Furtak, curator Franziska Bax, scientist Charlett Wenig, residents of Moorbauer, the Moortheater, artist Anna Luz Pueyo, and web developer Ferdinand Sorg, is inventorying the state of the peat in Germany.
