Like a group of gnomes, they make a pact—to meet twice beneath a mushroom. At twilight.
Once at sunset, once at dawn.
They gather to catch a glimpse of the ephemeral:
That swift, elusive shift from daylight to blue dusk, to grey, to shadow, to clearing, to darkness.
The climax being that moment when sparse light flickers stroboscopically on the retina.
And in between—between those two stroboscopic gnome-like rendezvous—lies the night.
Rita Hoofwijk travelled to Camargue, a region in France where heavy industry and ancient nature uneasily share the land. In collaboration with Le Citron Jaune, she works on the project LAND.
As part of this, a unique, two-part performance will unfold: Le Champignon Blanc.
Rita first meets the audience on the evening of October 4. The experience continues at dawn on October 5.
Then, from October 23 to 25, the final LAND conference will take place in Žilina, Slovakia—bringing together partners and artists from the Netherlands, France, and Slovakia.
